In the service of the rose:
Michelle Obama asked us all to participate in some sort of service activity today. I was fortunate to be invited to "The Rose Lady's" house for her fund raiser held to benefit the Goodwill's Fitness Center. It is a full service gym for the disabled and a wonderful cause. You can read more about this amazing facility here. Nancy, The Rose Lady, offered as her service a three hour class in all things roses. "Nancy's Magical Garden" is home to over a hundred different varieties of the magnificent flower. Nancy has been growing roses for over thirty years and is a wealth of amazing information. It was an absolutely wonderful event.

I believe every garden should have a resident princess kitty.
Phoebe is just as sweet and beautiful as all the flowers she reigns over.
Nancy taught us how to correctly prune a rose bush and
how to correctly cut the blooms from them
I will not attempt to remember all the names of these lovelies but I do remember that they all smelled heavenly.

The high maintenance Marilyn Monroe. It is the most exquisite rose I have ever seen.
It just looks like Hollywood.
Nancy is about to plant some Peace is in her garden.
My hope is that with we will all plant some peace in our hearts,
our minds and where ever we grow.

What great pics! It was a wonderful day. Anyone who wants a rose that actually has a smell to it should contact the Rose Lady. What an experience for the nose and a great walk down memory lane for those of us who know that roses actually have a smell!
